Tutorials
Tutorials offer practitioners, students and researchers the opportunity to extend their knowledge into new areas of expertise and to learn about specific concepts, methods and techniques from recognized experts. Tutorials are held on Saturday 29 and on Sunday 30 September 2018, before the conference starts. A tutorial may be full day or half day in length (morning or afternoon session). There is a lunch break and a mid-morning/afternoon break as well, making a full day of six working hours. The NordiCHI 2018 conference would like to offer a wide variety of tutorials for researchers, practitioners, designers, developers, managers and students. We invite proposals for tutorials focusing on all themes of the Human Computer Interaction field, and in particular we invite tutorials focusing on the theme of the conference: revisiting the life cycle. The theme covers the changing boundaries between design and use as well as sustainability issues. We encourage instructors to propose tutorials on new and emerging areas, methods and technologies or experimenting with new forms of instruction and innovative perspectives in an HCI context. We also welcome proposals for tutorials on foundational themes of HCI.

Submission instructions
Proposals for tutorials should be limited to 1000 words and detail:
- Title and duration
- Intended audience
- Theme and goals
- Prerequisites, level
- Description of activities planned
- Any past conferences or related venues for the tutorial
- Needed facilities
- Web site or other resources that might be accessed to provide more information about the tutorial or instructor(s)
- Summarise the skills and knowledge the attendees will gain as a result of attending this tutorial
- Instructors’ names, affiliations and backgrounds
Tutorials are given only if at least 5 participants register by the early bird registration deadline, so the instructors should be active in advertising their tutorial to relevant audiences. Instructor compensation is based on the number of participants who register for that particular tutorial, as follows:
- Min 10 paid participants: Free conference registration for the 1st instructor
- Min 20 paid participants: Free conference registration for the 2nd instructor.
- For every additional 10 participants, up to 60: Free conference registration or 300€ compensation.
