This is an opportunity for researchers to present and discuss their research even before they have substantial research results to show. What are work-in-progress papers?
Work-in-progress papers should present research in progress in contrast to full papers, that present research results. The work in-progress presented should contribute to the NordiCHI community and to HCI or related areas. We would like the work-in-progress papers to be a basis for fostering discussions about current and future research. Suitable work-in-progress contributions can present on-going work related to any of the conference themes, empirical or theoretical. Examples of work in progress could be the design of a novel interaction method, empirical material from interesting contexts, theoretical contributions from relevant research fields or research ideas that can carry a research project.
What do you submit?
Submit a minimum of 3 pages and a maximum of 5 pages including references. This must include three broad areas: A literature review, a clear and succinct description of the work and a description of future work. Submissions should be as close to camera ready as possible, including names and affiliations. Only very minor changes will be allowed after acceptance. At least one author of each accepted work-in-progress will be required to attend the conference and present it. Failure to do so will mean the paper will be removed from the proceedings and the ACM Digital Library. Quick facts of Work-in-progress submissions

- Notification: June 1, 2018
- Camera-ready deadline: August 26, 2018 5PM PST (this is a hard deadline)
- Submission format: 3-5 pages including references in the SIGCHI Extended Abstracts Format (2018).
- ACM classification keywords: Use the ACM Computing Classification System (1998).
- Selection process: The submissions will be reviewed by a jury of peers. The focus in review will be on the interest for the conference audience and in particular point to topics of interest for the NordiCHI community.
Publicity
If your submission is selected, you will be invited to present your contribution at NordiCHI 2018 and will be published in the ACM Digital Library Database. All accepted submissions that conform to the SIGCHI Extended Abstracts Format will be made available on-line to the conference participants. We have not yet decided the final format for presenting work-in-progress papers, but the authors will be invited to present their work to an audience.
